How to Install CWM Recovery on QMobile Noir A10?

CWM Recovery, also known as ClockworkMod Recovery, is the best and most popular custom recovery in the Android market. It has a lot of benefits such as being able to flash unsigned zip files (files not having signatures).

Installation Procedure

1) Download ClockworkMod Recovery.

v6.0.1.2 (Stable)
http://d-h.st/60b

v6.0.2.7 (Beta v1 with Sideload support)(Unstable)
– Touch inputs do not work, neither does USB Storage Mount.
http://d-h.st/PQW

2) Double-check that the file is named “recovery.img”

3) Connect Noir A10 to your PC and transfer this file to the Root of your SD Card.

4) Now go to Play Store and download the Mobileuncle MTK Tools application.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobileuncle.toolbox

5) Open the App and select the Recovery Update option.

6) Now select the recovery.img file from the top. (Normally MTK Tools should detect it in the first place. But if it asks for the exact path where recovery.img is stored, then enter it).

7) It’ll ask conformation for flashing. Select OK.

However if you want to boot into recovery mode later, follow these instructions.

How to boot into Recovery?

1) Switch off your phone.

2) Press and hold down the Vol UP, Vol Down and Power buttons at the same time till the mobile lights up.

3) Now press the Volume UP button one time to boot into recovery.

How to Root QMobile Noir A10?

Rooting Noir A10 is as easy as a pie. Well thanks to Bin4ry from xda-developers.com who developed a general script to root/unroot majority of android devices running stock ICS or JB. Fortunately, that script works fine with Noir A10 as well.

Before you Start

1) Rooting will void your warranty (unless and until you unroot it and find a way to reset the flash counter).

2) You might brick your device while rooting. So follow the instructions carefully.

3) Make sure everything is in order and that your device is charged.

How to Root

1) On your device, go to Settings > Development and enable USB Debugging.

2) Connect Noir A10 to your PC. Install device drivers using PDANet.

3) Download the following package and unzip it.

4) Inside the package, open the RunMe.bat file.

5) You’ll see a command prompt appear on your screen.

NoirA10

6) Type “1” (Normal Device) and press Enter.

QMobile Noir A10 Stock ROM [CWM Flashable][ICS v4.0.4]

I was searching around the Noir A10 help threads on various forums and realized a very serious problem. No one had uploaded Noir A10’s stock ROM! Now if in case a user wants to revert back to the stock ROM because he doesn’t like the custom one or has to sell the mobile back in warranty, he would need a copy of the stock ROM.

Some advanced users back up their stock ROM before upgrading to a custom one, but android users who are new to rooting usually forget to backup their ROM in the first place.

That is why I have made a CWM Flashable ZIP of the Stock ROM so the users can revert back to the stock ROM anytime. I took a nandroid backup of my stock ROM using CWM Recovery and then converted it into a CWM Flashable ZIP using an updater script.
